What is the Argentina citizenship by investment program?

It is a program created by DNU 366/2025 that grants Argentine citizenship in exchange for a qualifying investment, without prior residence in the country. Applications are expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026.

How much does Argentine citizenship by investment cost?

The main applicant pays a non-refundable contribution of USD 350,000 to the National Treasury or subscribes USD 800,000 to a special government bond. A spouse or a child aged 18 to 25 adds USD 100,000. A child under 18 adds USD 25,000.

When can I apply?

The Ministry of Economy said the program will receive applications in the fourth quarter of 2026. The application portal and procedural fees were not published at the time of our last review.

How long does it take without investment?

By law a foreigner can apply after two years of residence. In practice, counting the residency permit and the court process, it usually takes four to five years today.

Can I keep my current citizenship?

Argentina does not require you to give up your current citizenship. Your home country also has to allow dual citizenship. The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia allow it.
